¡Mi gente! (For all you non-spanish speakers out there "mi gente" means "my people" 😉)
This weekend I received my call to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am so excited to serve the Lord and his people. I love this gospel so much and I CANNOT wait to share the joy that it brings me. I also love my Savior SO much and I am beyond excited to show that love.
So... where? That is a big question. An answer I have been patiently waiting for and has finally come. But as I have waited I have come to learn two super important lessons.
1. It is not about the place where I am serving but rather who I am serving in the place of. Once I put on that badge I am standing in the place of the Savior. I am his representative. A mission is all about Him. It's about bringing others to Him. It's about Him changing me and everyone around me. It's about me coming to Him.
2. I may not yet to be set apart but I have been called. And so even though I won't be leaving until January the calling has come and I have accepted. Now that I have the calling I have the desire to participate in an extra measure of missionary work and throw myself into the service others. That's why I am starting the blog now! And besides, we all know the phrase, "Every member a missionary!" I can't wait to serve and teach the people who I have been called to help but for now, the people of Provo will have to do. (jk jk I love you all and I LOVE to serve you too.)
But all that aside where I am going is important too. And it's exciting. So with no further ado... here is my call!
“Dear Sister Nygren, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – You are assigned to labor in the FRESNO, CALIFORNIA mission.” I'll be speaking the Spanish language and leave January 8th for the Mexico MTC.
GUY'S I AM THRILLED! I don't think even a Jonas Brother reunion could get me more excited than this. I just know that Fresno is exactly where I am supposed to be.
