Episode 4: nada nada limonada

The CCM continues to answer (and teaches me to be able to answer) life's most difficult questions. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? How do you fold a fitted sheet? And I am extra grateful for the CCM because it is preparing me to answer them.

But seriously this week we had laundry duty. Our job was to wash sheets and fold them. The head guy pretty much took us all to a big room, said some words in spanish and then left. We were alone in a room with thousands of fitted sheets. who knows how to fold a fitted sheet? (dear yw leaders. sorry. I know you taught me. I forgot.) But THE [wo]man hermana Conner came in CLUTCH. Because she had learned and practiced folding fitted sheets she was prepared to teach us all. And we got them all folded. In fact the head of the department was so impressed he threw us a party right then and right there. In the CCM laudry mat. It was wild. We had an arm wrestling meet and everything. (of course I won. What kind of question is that? Read the last line of Matthew 6:30) 😉

So, what I am supposed to learn from this experience... that the Lord wants us to prepare so that when the time comes everything is easy and we can have a lot fun? yeah probably not. I had another experience this week that taught me what I think I am actually supposed to learn about preparedness.

Tomorrow Elder Quinton L Cook is coming here. And guess all week what we have been doing? That's right. Preparing. Everything is being repainted. We have trimmed all the hedges and replanted the flowers. I have no idea how many times I have heard "save your best dress for Friday".  They are even shipping us all off to the temple again today.

But are clean walkways and trimmed bushes going to improve the message Elder Cook has for us? No. But I think it will prepare us for the message. So I realized this isn't all for Elder Cook. I mean of COURSE we want the campus to look nice for him. We all love him. BUT I don't think we are soley trying to show Elder Cook that we are ready for his message. I think we are trying to show the Lord we are ready for HIS message that Elder Cook is delivering. Which I think is applicable to everything. General conference. The temple. whatever. When we prepare, we show God we are ready for whatever he gives us.

Sorry for the lack of funny stories in my emails. So here is a quick list of things I WAS NOT prepared for this week.
1. the head of the CCM to ask me my name. in spanish. I replied (and I quote) "cinco semanas?" it was loud. and I was unprepared. I swear I can normally answer that question.
2. the death of our favorite bird on campus. a little red one. he fell out of a tree. triste
3. my roommate to tell me how to correctly pronounce arrepintimiento. IN HER SLEEP.

See y'all in a hot second
Con Amor
Hermana nygren

2. Only in the CCM can you find the plan of salvation in your fruitloops. (PS Mexican fruitloops are to die for)
